Knitting from the Netherlands
Unfortunately I am not actually knitting in the Netherlands but I recently managed to acquire a copy of Henriette van der Klift-Tellegen’s book Knitting from the Netherlands - Traditional Dutch Fishermen’s Sweaters.

The photos are fascinating and she has done a fabulous job collecting information and images about the patterns found on fishermen’s jerseys in Dutch ports. The text is brief but informative but the images and diagrams of the sweaters are what you’ll spend most time admiring. Each photograph has been carefully examined and stitch patterns and diagrams are provided so you can recreate the traditional pattern of your choice.

These are honest, practical garments. Knitting doing what only knitting can do so well. Garments of protection and of pride.
I suspect it’s not an easy volume to come by but if you spy it anywhere, have a look.

Great!
That is 3 of us now. Just finishing at work, a little late tonight but looking forward to getting home and putting the fire on and trying to finish clue 1.
Cheers

That is a great book - I used to get it out from our library a lot (my husband and kids are Dutch) and managed to get it at their withdrawal sale a ear or two back - couldn’t believe my luck
