And I’m busy working on the second and third installments.

Camp was great! Lots of knitting time but my actual output was small - this twined knitting lark is tough going. And because I’m that kind of difficult person I decided to jump in the deep end by twining with two colours - four ends, twisting, concentration and very slow knitting ensued. My two colour [...]

This weekend I’m off to “Knitting Camp” for some exploration of Twined Knitting. It’s forecast to rain all weekend here so it seems an ideal weekend to huddle inside playing with yarn. The company will be superb and I can be all knit-geeky without getting strange looks from non-fibre obsessed individuals.

I’ve dyed up some z-twist [...]

I do a little lace knitting and I’d read stuff by American knitters which referred to “blocking wires”. When I investigated this further it seemed like a way to ease the pain of blocking with just pins. The wires sold specifically to knitters for blocking seemed quite pricey and I’d read things about people using [...]

When I started spinning I did so on an old Ashford Traditional I had inherited from my grandmother. It is a 1960s model and showing its age. It works fine enough but is clunky and scotch tension only (which on the Ashfords is a fiddly system requiring constant adjustment in my experience).
As I became a [...]

It’s delightful. One of my favorite sections is on towels:

I purchased another spinning wheel recently unfortunately it’s in Rangiora and I’m in Dunedin. I’m trying to work on a way to get it to me without too much cost being incurred. [...]
